Christmas!

Our Christmas this year was so much fun, the kids were really onto it this year. For Christmas eve we went to my parent's home and had dinner . Then the kids decorated a gingerbread house and then unwrapped our Christmas PJs. On Christmas day the kids were very spoiled! Keaton got several Wii video games and Karter got lots of cars.Karter mostly ate the candy!

December

December was such a busy month for us. Working in retail during December is always crazy, then throw in all the festivities...needless to say it was a bit crazy! But we did manage to do a few things: the boys got to visit with Santa, we went and saw the lights on temple square, and had two pretty large snow storms, and of course Christmas!

Stitches!

On Tuesday morning, Karter and Keaton were playing when I heard a horrible scream. When I found Karter he had blood dripping down his forhead into his eye. Appearently he had fallen onto the edge of the frame of our laundry bag. We ended up having to take him up to Primary Children's Hospital to get 6 stiches. This is Karter's second time getting stiches and last time I passed out in the hall, so this time I decided I would leave before they started. They gave him a sedative called Versed, and then I went out in the waiting room. But appearently the Versed didn't work all that well. Kurt said he screamed and fought with the nurses for about a half and hour. It took three nurses to hold him down, they almost had to put him completly under, but they were finally able to get all the stiches in. By the time they called me back he was totally sweaty and exhausted. The doctor did say that the Versed will make it so he won't remember what happened. Lets hope so, because if this happens again (and knowing this child, it will!) we probably will have to knock him completly out!

While we were waiting to get his stitches they wrapped up his head.
He thought it was pretty cool.

Sledding

On Sunday we got a few inches of snow (boo!). Kurt has really been wanting to take the kids sledding. So Monday morning he woke up bright and early, and took the kids up to a park about a block away from the house. (I did manage to drag myself out of bed to shoot some pictures!) Karter loved it, as long as someone carried him up the hill, he really hated walking in his boots. Both kids had so much fun, except for on the last run when the tipped over at the bottom and everyone face planted in the snow.

This is where they biffed it!

Halloween, Birthday and all the other catching ups

Wow, I can't believe I haven't updated this thing for over two months! We really haven't been that busy... just me being lazy! Well, lets see. In September Keaton started up preschool again, he now goes 3 days a week which is quite a helpful and relaxing break for me, especially if Karter will lie down and nap during some of those 3 hrs. Keaton also turned 5 on Thursday, it completely boggles my mind that I now have a 5 year old. He was quite spoiled for his birthday, he finally got his Nintendo Wii that has has been begging for, for nearly a year now. And my amazingly talented friend Nikki made him a Super Mario cake. Keaton loved it, it was a little heart breaking cutting it up, it was way too cute!
In September I was spoiled too. Kurt and I got to go see Jim Gaffigan with my sister and a few friends, and we also got to go see Pearl Jam! Most of you who know me know that I'm a HUGE PJ fan, and since I haven't gotten to see them in nearly 6 years, I was a little more than excited. We had 3rd row and the show was amazing, one of the best I've seen. I already told Kurt that we need to plan on seeing them again in 2010, I've decided that I can't wait another 6 years to see them again!
For Halloween, the boys decided that they wanted to be Star Wars characters, originally Keaton wanted to be Darth Vader, until he saw a Clone Wars trooper, then his mind was set. I was trying to find another Clone Wars character for Karter to be, but while I was searching he found a Vader costume in just his size and kept saying " bader, bader".
The boys had so much fun trick or treating this year, we went to our neighborhood trunk or treat party and then headed off to my parents for some door to door treating. They got a ton of candy, now I just have to try and stay out of it!
Well I think that that it about it for the last two months. I really will try and update a little more often, but I'm not making any promises!

Ear Tubes

On Tuesday we took Karter up to Primary Children's Hospital to get tubes put in his ears. In July he had his 8th ear infection in 9 months, so we are really hoping this will put an end to it all. Karter did awesome. After his surgery he was the most upset that I had forgotten to bring back his blankie. But he was much happier after Daddy came back with it. Later that afternoon he was back to his old self, you wouldn't even have been able to tell he had surgery that morning. After two surgeries for both kids in 4 months I think we are ready for a break from Primary's!

Getting in his hospital attire, he really hated the green socks!

Heading for the waiting room

After the Versed (he was a little loopy!)

Much better after Daddy brought his blanket (and an orange slush doesn't hurt)

His ride back to the car to go home!

Family Reunion & Cedar Point

We had so much fun at our first Plothow family reunion. We flew into Chicago and drove down to Peru Indiana, where Dani and I were born. There isn't a whole lot to to in Indiana, except eat, and they have some of the best food around. The first place we headed was B&K for spanish hot dogs and rootbeer. We went there as soon as we got to Peru, and then the next morning as soon as they opened, what can I say they are delicious and the main reason to make a pit stop in Peru. While in Peru we also stopped at my dad's cousins Maryann and Marty's house, where the kids got to play and blow off some steam and see and catch their first fire flys. Then we headed to Logansport for more food, Bruno's pizza and more B&K rootbeer. We ended up stopping at a park to eat (the parks in Indiana a amazing and beautiful!).
Monday morning we headed to Fort Wayne, where we lived for a few years, and went to the Fronke Park Children's Zoo. Its a great zoo (one of the top 10 best in the country), but they were having some huge event there and it was packed. After that we headed off the Pokagon State park for our family reunion. It was at a beautiful resort on Lake James. We spent two nights there, where we played lots of games, roasted hotdogs and marshmallows, and played in the lake. It was so much fun and great to see so many cousins that we don't get to see often.
Wednesday afternoon we drove to Sandusky, Ohio and met up with some other cousins, Curtis and his two kids Trevor and Meghan. We went to dinner and ice cream with them that night. The next morning we went with them to Cedar Point, the roller coaster capital of the world. Unfortunately it was raining, so a lot of the big rides were shut down, but all the kiddie rides were up and working, so we took the kids on those. The rain let up for a little while and allowed us to ride a few of the roller coasters. Right before we were about to leave we were waiting in line for our last ride and a HUGE thunderstorm came in and it started pouring. We had already stashed our rain gear and ended up getting drenched while trying to run back to out car. It was a lot of fun and we all want to go back when the kids are tall enough to ride on the big coasters.
The next morning we flew back to Salt Lake. We had a great time, and are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.
