Happy Birthday Kar-kar!!!

I can't believe my baby is 3, he's getting to be so big, it makes me a little sad. Karter has been so exited about this birthday, for the past several weeks, everytime he sees a toy on TV he says "I want that for my birthday!" But when it came to planning this event he knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted to go bowling have chicken nuggets and a batman party.
That morning Kurt took the boys out for dough nuts, so we put candle in them and sang him happy birthday.
That afternoon, we went bowling. It made my laugh that this little 3 year old wanted to go bowling, but it was his day after all! His attention lasted about halfway through the first game, then he just wanted to go to the arcade.
Then for his party we got a chicken nugget platter from chick-fil-a.
He got lots of presents, I think his favorite was an Imaginext space shuttle that aunt Dani gave him. That night he tried to go the sleep with it.
And here is his favorite thing of all, his cake. He kept telling me that he wanted a batman cake, so we started looking online until we found one he liked. Then we went to Dippidee by my work and had them make it. Besides being so cute, it was So yummy!

Our January and Febuary

So this new year I had two new years resolutions, sticking with a budget and getting Karter off his binkie. So far we have done both, Kurt and I started the Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover after one of Kurt's co-workers suggested the book. Needless to say, I read to entire book in one night, and told Kurt the next day I wanted to do it! We actually started on Christmas day, but so far we've been able to pay off our credit card and put quite a bit on money in savings for our yard and our trip to Vegas! Its been a bit of a roller coaster, I actually really like being on a budget (which I never thought I would say!) but it is hard to sometimes have to pass something up, because "it isn't in the budget", but so far we've done pretty well, and I really think its going to pay off in the long run.
The Binkie on the otherhand was a bit more of a challenge. Karter was totally addicted to the thing, and had NEVER slept without it, so I was quite scared to take it away. But we talked to him about how he was a big boy and didn't need it anymore (we also did a bit of bribing!). After a trip to Target he found an Imaginext castle that he really wanted, so I told him I would get it for him if he would trade it for all his binkies. He agreed and when we got home he gathered all his "ba ba's" and gave them to my mom (so they would be out of the house and away from temptation). He only asked to it a few times after, but he has been without it now since the second week in January., and now he's even more of a big boy! (now we just need to do the potty training and we'll be there!)In January I also turned the big 30. Let me say this is a birthday I have not been looking forward to! At first I wanted to do something huge like a trip, but in the end it was super low key. Kurt and I went and saw the movie Youth in Revolt ( I loved it!) and then we went to Cucina Toscana. Now I have been wanting to eat at Cucina Toscana for years, its always in the best of edition of City Weekly and I've always heard wonderful things about it. Let me say, this place is absolutely AMAZING!!! I kept telling Kurt that it didn't feel like we were in Utah. The place is exactly what I would picture a restaurant in Little Italy to be. Our waiter Marco was seriously THE best waiter I have ever in my life had! The food, the staff, everything was absolutely wonderful, I can't say enough good things about this place!
On February 2nd was the premiere of the final season of Lost. Many of you may not know, but I'm a total Lost addict, and so are many of my co-workers. So for the last few years, we all get together for the first and last episode of each season, since this is the last year, Nolan went all out! Dr. Lloyd catered it and Nolan decked his place all out in Darma gear and tiki torches, it was fabulous, I just wish I had actually taken pictures of the party :(
Kurt's mom also came for a visit in February. So so we all got together for a few dinners and just to hang out. The boys love seeing their cousin Sofia.
So basically, that was our last two months, not a whole lot to report. We are all doing well and hoping you are too!
